A Code Is a Starting Point, Not an Answer

A check engine code points to a system, not always to the broken part. A common example: a code that reads as a misfire might be a coil, a plug, an injector, or a wiring problem. The free code read at a parts counter tells you the code, then sells you the cheapest part it might be. We test instead, so you fix the problem once.

This matters most when the easy answer is the wrong one. We have seen plenty of cars arrive after two or three replaced parts, the light still on, because nobody traced the actual fault. Proper diagnosis costs a little up front and usually saves money overall.

Is It Safe to Keep Driving?

A steady check engine light usually means you can drive carefully and get it looked at soon. A flashing check engine light means a misfire serious enough to damage the catalytic converter, so it is worth stopping.
